Clean-up before arrival is fine

If you have your home of flat cleaned regularly by a cleaning service, you know how nice it is to return to a clean and tidy place. Even if you are satisfied with your domestic crew, there are some things one can do to ensure the cleaning is as good as it can be. Here are a few things to consider incorporating into your cleaning service routine. A little clean-up before arrival is fine, but it is wise to do a little more deliberate straightening. Always put away any valuables. Even if you completely trust your service, it is good practice to put cash or jewelry in a safe and secure spot. This will avoid any misunderstandings or issues. Removing daily clutter will also make the cleaner's job easier and things will get cleaner. Most domestic services are reluctant to move paperwork or a table full of children's art supplies to clean and dust. A few minutes of clearing on one's part, will result in a much cleaner place and help the service be more efficient. Even the most diligent service is not going to regularly move heavy furniture to clean behind and underneath. If you want these things done, move things ahead of time. Also leave a note with clear instructions on your wishes so there is no question on what one would like done. If one has a specific way things should be cleaned in your home, be sure to be clear with the cleaning service. The vast majority of cleaning personnel strive to do thorough and professional work, however each has their own way of doing things. Take a moment to explain how you'd like something done and demonstrate if necessary. Everyone seems to have a cleaning bet noire, so instead of suffering in silence, let the service know how you'd like it done. Depending on one's schedule it may not be possible to be out of one's flat or home whilst the cleaning is being performed. This is fine and any service will be used to working around people, however do endeavor to stay out of the way. Domestic services generally have a routine for each space they clean, so avoid redirecting them if you are home. Also be mindful of kids and pets that can slow things down or cause additional work.
